Disaster was averted at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, MA, after the arena was double booked last Friday night. However, the organizers were relieved when the two events scheduled, a concert by The Dave Matthews Band and the fourth annual Massachusetts Douchebag Convention, went off without a hitch.
According to the stadium’s box office, no douchebag or Dave Matthews fan was turned away and all 68,000 seats were occupied by someone wearing a tight polo shirt and plaid shorts from J Crew.
“Every douchebag who RSVP’d for the convention, checked in,” said the organizer of Massachusetts D-Bags 09, Todd Manheim, who paused to rock out to a saxophone groove blasting from the speakers. “Outside of the year we accidentally booked it the same night as Roofie-A-Friend ‘07, it’s the biggest turnout we’ve ever had.”
The double booking did not affect ticket sales of the Dave Matthews show either.
“The concert was sold out and we there were zero no shows. What a weird coincidence,” said a winking Dave Matthews Concert Promoter.. “Every douchebag - I mean Dave fan - has been accounted for.”
The concert peaked during the encore when 68,000 people screamed out “Freebird!”, all thinking they were the first douchebag to make that joke.
